MESSAGE FROM ADMINISTRATION

Dear Families,

Yesterday, Dr. Martirano, Superintendent of Howard County Public Schools, visited Ducketts Lane Elementary School.  He had the opportunity to see our morning caring circles in action in kindergarten and fifth grade.  He was impressed with the conversations and care students displayed to one another.  He also observed students in the gym, art room, and across the grades engaged in learning.  Our preschool students even taught him a new song!

It is hard to believe that cold weather and the holidays are already upon us!  Please remember as the weather has turned colder children will be going outside for recess daily.  It is important they come prepared to go outside with heavy coats, glove/mittens, and hats.  We want our kiddos to enjoy their time outside getting fresh air, friendship time and exercise!  If you need help getting winter apparel for your child please contact the office.

With November being the month to be thankful I would like to thank our PTA for all of their work providing dinner for the staff during conference week.  This was very much appreciated on these long work days for teachers.  I would also like to thank all our parents who attended parent teacher conferences.  It is important we continue to work together as a team to support our children as learners.  Please remember to contact us should you ever have any questions, comments or concerns.  We want to hear from you all school year long, not just during conferences.  Finally, thank you for sharing your beautiful children with us. They bring us so many joys, smiles, and learning on a daily basis.  DLES is very fortunate to work with so many wonderful families.

Stay warm,

Mrs. Balter and Mrs. Madden
